- 1. What was your initial reaction to learning you have cancer?
I was scared. I wanted it removed with chemo and radiation all at once. I wanted it out now! I immediately went into the “fight” mode. I declared war against my cancer. This would be no “journey” for me.
- 2. What was the greatest learning experience?
I learned to not worry about things I couldn’t control like the future, chemo and radiation. I learned to live in the now. I realized that I did and always will have control over my spirit, determination and love of mankind. There was no disease of any kind that could ever take that from me.
Here’s a quote that really rings true to me: “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the things you think you cannot do.” Eleanor Roosevelt
